Dr. Werner Krause guest at the MZES

Dr. Werner Krause is a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair for Comparative Politics at the University of Potsdam. Previously, he worked at the University of Vienna, the University of Essex, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center.

His research areas include political representation, party competition, and political radicalism/extremism. His current work focusses on the rise of the far right across Europe, investigating the causes and consequences of these parties’ ascent. He is also the principal investigator of the DFG-funded research project “Powerful Polls?”, which examines the influence of public opinion polls on citizens’ voting behaviour from a comparative perspective. He specialises in quantitative methods, with a focus on techniques of causal inference and time series and spatial data analysis.
