Guest at the MZES: Dr. Ignacio Jurado

Ignacio Jurado is Lecturer in Politics at the University of York and will be a visiting researcher at the MZES until the end of June 2017.

Ignacio Jurado holds a D.Phil. in Politics from the University of Oxford (Nuffield College) and is a Doctor Member of the Juan March Institute, where he completed a two-year MA in Social Sciences. He also was a visiting researcher at the University of Princeton and the Instituto de Políticas y Bienes Públicos in Madrid.

He has published in the British Journal of Political Science, European Journal of Political Research, European Journal of Political Economy, and Party Politics, among others. His dissertation, The Politics of Distribution, was awarded with the PSA 2012 Arthur McDougall Fund Prize for the best British dissertation on elections, electoral systems or representation.

His research interests lie at the intersection of comparative political economy and political behaviour. He is currently working in several projects on the creation of nationalized party systems, distributive spending, and electoral behaviour under globalization constraints. He is also leading the ESRC-funded project Democratic Dissatisfaction in Southern Europe, which addresses the impact of the recent crisis on attitudes and voting in Southern European countries.
