Juliana Tappe Ortiz received her bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Erfurt and her MPhil in Latin American politics from the University of Oxford. In 2023, she obtained her PhD on state and rebel leaders in civil wars at the University of Hamburg. She focusses on individuals governing and living in violent settings. From leaders to women in communities, she is interested in how individuals make choices and how their experiences and gender shape their political preferences, including preferences towards peace.
