Professor Thomas König elected member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina

Political scientist Professor Thomas König has been elected member of the Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina. Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina is one of the oldest academies of science in the world. It is dedicated to the advancement of science for the benefit of humankind and to the goal of shaping a better future. With some 1,500 members, the Leopoldina brings together outstanding scientists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries.

The Leopoldina has been the German National Academy of Sciences since 2008. It addresses key issues of particular significance for the future of society from a scientific perspective and independently of economic or political interests, shares its findings with policymakers and the public and puts these issues up for discussion on a national and international level.

Professor König has been elected full member of the section Economics and Empirical Social Sciences.
