Professor Thomas Winzen awarded Best Book Prize of the Academic Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES)

The UACES 2018 prize for best book was awarded to Thomas Winzen, for his book "Constitutional preferences and parliamentary reform: Explaining national parliaments’ adaptation to European integration".

Winzen's work sets out to provide a comprehensive account of national parliaments' adaptation to European integration. Advancing an explanation based on political parties' constitutional preferences, Winzen investigates the nature and variation of parliamentary rights in European Union affairs across countries and levels of governance.

"This book will become the principal standard reference in the future literature on the role of national parliaments in the European Union," one judge predicts.

The UACES Best Book Prize is awarded annually for the book that has made the most substantial and original contribution to knowledge in the area of contemporary European Studies.
