Upwardly Mobile Through STEM? Funding for Professor Irena Kogan’s research on STEM competences, participation and returns among ethnic minority women and men

The Fritz Thyssen Foundation has granted funding for Professor Irena Kogan’s project A2.2010 “Upwardly Mobile Through STEM? STEM Competences, Participation and Returns Among Ethnic Minority Women and Men in Germany (STEMobile)”.

STEMobile seeks to first describe patterns of STEM representation in Germany and second identify key factors that contribute to the success of men and women with and without migration background in STEM education. The third guiding question is whether STEM credentials can help Germany’s ethnic minorities of both genders narrow or even close the gap to the native‐born majority regarding their labour market outcomes.
