Lorenz von Stein Award for outstanding thesis on patterns of non-employment in Europe

Sociologist Dr. Thomas Biegert receives this year's Lorenz von Stein Award for an outstanding dissertation in the social sciences at the University of Mannheim. His thesis is titled "Patterns of Non-employment: How Labor Market Institutions Shape Social Inequality in Employment Performance in Europe". Thomas Biegert worked at the MZES for several years. For example, he was a researcher within Professor Bernhard Ebbinghaus' project "Non-employment in Europe: A Comparative Analysis of Social Risk Groups in Household Contexts". Since summer 2014, he has been a research fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, research unit Inequality and Social Policy. Main purpose of the Lorenz von Stein Foundation is the support of the MZES and of the Mannheim social sciences in general. The prize money of the annual outstanding dissertation award is 1,000 Euro.
