MZES researcher Thomas Plischke receives Lorenz von Stein Award for his outstanding dissertation on voting behaviour

Political scientist Dr. Thomas Plischke has received this year's Lorenz von Stein Award for an outstanding dissertation in the social sciences at the University of Mannheim. Plischke's thesis "Wann Wähler entscheiden: Abläufe von Entscheidungsprozessen und der Zeitpunkt der Wahlentscheidung" deals with late voting decisions. Thomas Plischke works with the MZES project "Long- and Short-term Panel Studies", which is part of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES).
Main purpose of the Lorenz von Stein Foundation is the support of the MZES and of the Mannheim social sciences in general. The prize money of the annual outstanding dissertation award is 1,000 Euro. (See PDF for full press release in German, dated June 26, 2014)
