By bus or train

Mannheim's main train station is close to the MZES and provides access to ICE trains. The bus and tram station is outside the main exit of the railway station. Bus line 60 will take you right to the MZES within 10 minutes; please get off at bus stop “Universität West”. For the timetable of regional/local public transport please click here.
By foot
The MZES is a 20 minute walk from the main station: please leave the main station towards the city centre. Then cross the tramway tracks and continue straight ahead until you reach a multi-lane road, the Bismarckstraße. Turn left here and follow the Bismarckstraße for about 1 kilometre, passing the Mannheim palace (which is also the university’s main building) on your left.
If you are on the same side of the road as the palace, please cross the Bismarckstraße at the pedestrian light. Follow the Bismarckstraße for another 350 meters on the right-hand side of the street until you reach the grey and blue MZES building A5, 6 (this is the typical Mannheim block name, referring to the grid system of Mannheim’s historical city centre, and the actual visiting address of the institute). Please enter “Bauteil A” and see the information boards on the left-hand side of the entrance area.
By plane
Frankfurt International Airport is about 40 minutes from Mannheim by ICE-train. For the timetable, please visit the website of Deutsche Bahn (in English).
There is also an airport shuttle station next to the main train station (please see map above for details).
By car

Please follow signs for the centre of Mannheim (Mannheim Zentrum/Mannheim Mitte) or alternatively the „Universität“. The MZES can be reached best via Parkring, also when you approach via Bismarckstraße.
