Change of Social Structure and Reform of Social Security: a Comparison of Germany and Great Britain, 1980-2000

Research question/goal: 

All over Europe the systems of social security are under strong pressure to adapt and the institutional reforms have far-reaching consequences for the life chances of the various population groups. In this process the respective organizational structure of social security is important. This will be studied in a comparison of Germany and Great Britain, prototypes of very different organizational forms, in a combination of institutional and micro-data analysis for the period from 1980 to 2000.
