Marriage Patterns of Immigrants and Structural Assimilation

Research question/goal:

This project aims at analyzing recent trends of immigrants’ marriage patterns as well as their relation – in terms of causes and consequences – to the overall processes of structural assimilation in Germany. Are different types of partner choices (marriage to another immigrant, intermarriage, transnational marriage) only a result of different degrees of integration into the host society or do they have an independent effect on immigrants’ success, e.g. in the labour market?
