Segregation and Labour Market Outcomes of Turkish Immigrants (in a Comparative Perspective)

Research question/goal:

In recent studies it could be shown that Turks play an exceptional role with respect to labour market integration of immigrants in Germany as they are considerably disadvantaged even controlling for educational qualifications and even in the second generation. This project aims at analyzing the reasons for this focusing on the relative impact of segregation vs. other explanations like culture or discrimination. Comparing Germany to other societal contexts will provide a strategic and critical variation of all three possible influence factors.
