Social Embeddedness and Partnership Relations

Research question/goal:

This subproject of the PAIRFAM research program aimed at the development of valid instruments for the measurement of crucial aspects of couples’ social embeddedness. Instrument development particularly included the validation of proxy-information on network persons’ characteristics given by respondents. Our further research interests centred on effects of social embeddedness on partnership stability. The results of the validation study formed a basis for the PAIRFAM study network instrument. Further analyses confirmed the impact of social capital on couple stability, the framing-hypothesis that claims that incentives are blocked out under certain conditions, and a reinforcing effect of network orientations.
