Do babies come faster if grandparents live closer? Intergenerational Geographical Proximity at the Transition to Parenthood

4th International pairfam Conference, Cologne, September 25th to September 26th, 2014

This study asks whether regional availability of (prospective) grandparents influences their children’s fertility decision. To answer this question, I exploit data from five waves of pairfam to estimate discrete-time hazard models (N = 916 females) for the transition to parenthood.
