Survey profiles is a database with metainformation on the profiles of major socio-economic surveys conducted by national statistical offices. It also includes 'blue print profiles' of European Community Surveys. You can search the database for single study descriptions or for comparative evaluations of survey characteristics, combining a number of criteria1. Besides the usual spectrum of metainformation2 , core variables (Eurostat's prime candidates for harmonisation in the field of social statistics) have been documented as well and can be searched selectively in the case of comparative queries. Study documentations have been produced mainly by national collaborators within the context of commissioned summary survey reports3. Eurostat has supported the project by making available part of their documentation material collected earlier by Directorate E (Social Statistics).
