Neuer wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter: Dr. Sebastian Schongen

Sebastian Schongen is a postdoctoral researcher at the MZES and GESIS. He received his doctoral degree from the Graduate School of Economics and Social Sciences in Mannheim in August 2024. He also holds a B.Sc. in social sciences from the University of Cologne and an M.A. in sociology - European societies from the Free University of Berlin. From 2020 to 2024, he was employed as a doctoral candidate in the research project Implications of Digitalization for Qualification, Workplace Design, and Employment (DigitalQWE) at GESIS. From 2018 to 2020, he worked at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) in the project Understanding NEETs and the research group National Educational Panel Study.

At the MZES, he works in the planned project Inequality Formation through Parenthood Transition and Family Policy Constellations in Europe with Ilze Plavgo and Reinhard Pollak. His research interests lie in the fields of social inequalities, particularly labour market research, youth social exclusion, societal and workplace changes due to digitalisation, social and political engagement, and quantitative research methods. In his PhD thesis, he investigated the impact of digitalisation in the working world on individuals and society.
