Carlos Palomo Lario

Since May 2024, Carlos Palomo Lario has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the MZES in Research Department A in the project "Partnership Formation in the Context of Refugee Migration" (PARFORM), led by Irena Kogan.

Carlos Palomo received his Ph.D. in political and social sciences from Pompeu Fabra University in December 2023. He developed a thesis on the differences between native- and immigrant-origin students in educational expectations and pathways in transitions between stages of the education system. During his Ph.D., he participated in a research project that analysed inequalities by social origin in access and progression in higher education. Before joining the MZES, he worked as a researcher in a project that studied the criminal and penal histories of aggressors of intimate partner violence.

His research interests focus on the incorporation of immigrants and their descendants into host societies and on inequalities in educational transitions, particularly in relation to migration and socioeconomic background. His work has been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, European Societies and in an edited book.
