DGPuK Theory Award for Professor Hartmut Wessler

MZES project director Prof. Dr. Hartmut Wessler has received the Theory Award of the German Communication Association (DGPuK) for his book "Habermas and the Media". The award ceremony took place during the annual conference of the association on May 10, 2019, in Münster. "Habermas and the Media" was published by Polity Press just in time for the 90th birthday of the philosopher Jürgen Habermas. The book contains the first generally comprehensible introduction to Jürgen Habermas’ work on media and communication in English language. Moreover, it honours the criticisms of his work and includes empirical applications, developments and perspectives of his theory. The Theory Award is granted every two years for contributions "which have advanced the development of theory in communication science significantly and enriched the theoretical debate in our field with innovative approaches", so the DGPuK says.
