Malte Schierholz new scientific staff member

Since June 2014, Malte Schierholz works at MZES, Department A, in the project "New Methods for Job and Occupation Classification" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Frauke Kreuter.

Malte Schierholz studied Statistics at LMU Munich. Amongst others, he occupied himself with quantile regression to analyze the oxygen consumption from mice (Bachelor Thesis) and with methodical difficulties arising in the analysis of voting behaviour changes on the basis of GLES data (Master Seminar). He wrote his Master's Thesis at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) about "Automating Survey Coding for Occupation".

The project aims to improve the ascertainment of occupation in surveys. Using machine learning methods for text classification, it is expected to increase data quality and reduce costs for manual coding.
