New scientific staff member: Dr. Andrea Chagas López
In April 2024, Dr. Andrea Chagas López joined the MZES as an academic staff member supporting the DeZIM research community as a research networking officer. Her tasks include the conception and establishment of events, workshops, etc. related to research on integration and migration.
Andrea Chagas López studied English and Spanish at the University of Mannheim. At the same university, she obtained her doctorate from the Romance Seminar, Chair of Language and Media Sciences. In her thesis, she specialized in perceptual sociophonetics and linguistic variation at the intersection between Hispanic and African studies.
She is an applied sociolinguist and strives to promote interdisciplinarity by bringing together linguistic and social science issues and researchers.
