Profile/Career

Dr. Alexander Schilin joined the MZES as a Lorenz von Stein Fellow in April 2024. His research focusses on European integration, the EU institutions and their interactions with the EU member states, and the politics of the Economic and Monetary Union. At the MZES, he prepares a grant proposal on the behaviour of right-wing populist governments in the EU Council and their implications for the EU’s ability to build consensus. Alexander Schilin studied political science and public administration at the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen and democracy and governance in Europe at the Eberhard-Karls University of Tübingen. He acquired his PhD from Leiden University in the Netherlands, where he studied the institutionalisation of differentiated integration in the Economic and Monetary Union.
