VFA-Report Quality of Life in Germany 2006

Research question/goal:

The "VFA-Report Lebensqualität 2006", a report on quality of life in Germany commissioned by the VFA association, was written in summer 2006 as part of a cooperative project of the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and the Centre for Survey Research and Methodology in Mannheim (ZUMA). This first VFA-Report on quality of life in Germany covers the objective living conditions in Germany 1995 until 2005, discussing selected societal developments. Besides the contexts of demography and welfare states that are of relevance for changes in living conditions and quality of life in Germany, the following featured topics are covered by the report: family, work and income, health as well as participation and integration. For each of these areas the report investigates changes in the quality of life in Germany over the last decade, whether differences between West and East Germany have diminished or were amplified, and whether socio-economic inequalities have increased or were reduced as well as Germany’s position in comparison to other European countries.
