Over the last decade, mobile technologies such as smartphones and tablets have become an integral part of people’s daily life. While only 18% of Internet users in Germany used a smartphone in 2011, this rate increased to 78% in 2019, among people aged 16-24 even to 95% (Destatis 2011, 2020), with similar trends observed in other countries (Silver 2019).
