Educational Expansion and Social Reproduction in Europe

Research question/goal:

This project examines the consequences on the role of education for access to occupational positions that derive from the massive educational expansion and from the extensive structural changes in labour markets which have taken place in recent decades in most modern societies. A further question concerns the effect these changes have on the reproduction of social inequalities, particularly between social classes, status groups, and gender. Comparing for recent decades the respective developments in various European countries the project studies the mechanisms at work and assesses the impact of different educational and labour market institutions.
