How Polish and Czech Political Actors Link Western Integration to Eastern Policies

Research question/goal: 

 

The project examines the consequences of the integration of Poland and the Czech Republic into NATO and EU on their relations with the succesor states of the Soviet Union. The prime objective is to investigate whether the entry of these states into existing Western structures leads to the emergence of a new borderline in Europe. Furthermore, the project aims to find out to what extent the political actors in Poland and the Czech Republic perceive such a danger and what strategies they develop to respond to this risk.
