The French Study: the Strategies of Voters in the Super-Election of 2002 in France
Research question/goal:
Due to its electoral and party system, France is a very interesting case for studying strategic voting comparatively because the election outcome of the first round should have a strong impact on the proclivity to vote strategically in the second round. Moreover the super election year of 2002 provides a unique opportunity to identify strategies and assess political consequences of strategies that aim to balance various levels of governance (e.g., cohabitation).
