When Does Inference-making Violate Individuals' Privacy (Rights)?

Under which conditions is it morally permissible to infer (unobserved) information about an individual based on observed information about this individual? At which point is the individual's privacy infringed, or its privacy rights violated? I will explore this question based on recent literature from the field of ethics and discuss potential ways to investigate this problem from a public acceptance perspective via empirical research.
