Abstract

This article explores the differing potential of voluntary associations to build bonding and bridging social capital. On the basis of a representative German population study an empirical test of the validity of the theoretical differentiation between the two types of voluntary associations is conducted. Empirical results support the validity of the presented theoretical concept.

Der Artikel geht der Frage nach, inwiefern unterschiedliche Arten freiwilliger Vereinigungen zur Entwicklung von inklusivem bzw. exklusivem Sozialkapital beitragen. Auf der Grundlage einer repräsentativen deutschen Bevölkerungsstudie wird das theoretische Konzept einer empirischen Prüfung unterzogen. Die empirischen Ergebnisse unterstützen die Gültigkeit des vorgestellten Konzepts.
