Prof. Yakubovich’s research focuses on the emergence and diffusion of new organizational forms and management practices. He has studied the impact of managerial interest groups on the emergence of new business models in the late 19th century electricity industry in the US, and the role of social networks in the diffusion of new work practices in virtual organizations and post-socialist markets. The results of these studies have been published in leading academic journals, including Organization Science, Harvard Business Review, American Sociological Review, as well as numerous edited volumes. His current projects explore the role of language in the transfer of management practices, new forms of employment relationships in the context of digital transformation, algorithmic data-driven management, and innovative non-hierarchical forms of organizing business activities.
